BORK HAVN FESTIVAAAAAL!

Hey everybody!

We know it´s been a week since we last post on the blog but we left Funen to reach Jutland and really start our biking trip... We had no internet and difficulties to post pictures.

Actually, after leaving Odense and our friends Mads & Sarah, we biked to Kauslunde whit a real hard front wind and some rain for 45km. Then we got a train to wonderful Århus where we only stay a night before leaving to Struer. There, we realized THE Scandinavian dream: living for 2 nights in a traditional wood hut in the middle of a forest, close to the fjord, raspberries and horses...

The day after we pretty easily biked 35km to Fjaltring, a really nice beach where we slept in a simple wood hut on the sand... And on July 29, we biked 60km with hard front wind along the North Sea coast to reach our host in Hvide Sande, an amazing surf spot in Denmark ;)

Today we leave Hvide Sande to reach Bork Havn, a village south of the Ringkøbing fjord, to see several concerts and have a partying night at the fest camp: borkhavnmusikfestival.dk

Tomorrow, we´ll bike our last little 20km to go to Tarm train Station and get our train to Esberg, then to København... There we´ll give back our bikes and wait a night at the airport for our morning flight on Sunday.

Well, see you everybody! Denmark is amazing, do not hesitate if you´re planning really original holidays! (new pictures will be posted as soon as we´ll be home)

Vi hoppe overalt i Denmark.

Today has been another rainy day so Mad´s nicely proposed to drive us to Svendborg to visit some cool places. Unfortunately, we´ve been stuck into a huge traffic jam on the only road to the island... Time for fun! Did you know that in Denmark, along the roads, people let some vegetables and fruits in a kinda drive-in system where you just put the money in a box and serve yourself? Amazing isn´t it?? We finally visit a nice traditional lutherian church and a beer factory, before coming back to have a hot-dog and a walk in Svendborg. In the evening we met Mad´s girlfriend, Sarah, and eat all together the "French Blanquette" we prepared the veil.

1- Egeskov Castle, really too expensive and full of tourists, so we stayed outside!

2- Gamle Nyborg Church, where you can visit the roof for 5Kr.

3- Svendborg city and the delicious Ø Pølser Hot-Dogs.

4- Bruggeriet where you can buy a traditional beer from 3Kr.

5- Resting at home, good food and a nice movie!

Rød Grød med fløde...

A day-off as we left Esther´s bike at the store in order to get the tire changed for tomorrow. We went in Odense to have a nice walk, discover the inner city and the H.S. Andersen´house. We also heard some local rock music in a free open festival and learnt (almost tried to) pronounce that super-tricky-danish sentence: "Rød grød med Flød" (Red fruits jelly with cream). Try it this way: REUdGREUdMÈdFLEUd where the "d" are really softly pronounced with the throat and the tongue between the teeth. What?! Are you telling us it sounds like spitting out at someone´s face??! Mmmm... Yeah, you´re definitely right! We also did a nice photo shooting at sunset in a wheat field.

1- Funen capital by feet:

2- Andersen is still alive!

3- Advertising pictures... Should we send them to H&M agency?

Det regner med hunde!

Today nothing really interessting excepted RAIN RAIN and RAIN. We rent our bikes in København, at "Baisikeli", a rental dedicated to help and send bikes to Africa. So, by renting to them, you act in a positive way: http://cphbikerental.mono.net/ Prices are nice and bikes are in good shape. Except Esther´s front tire which got flat... We decided to ride along the beach, and kept a chance to get a train in case of hard rain. Which finally happened in Karlslunde.

1- Rent bikes and go ride for it!

2- Reaching the see in Greve...

3- Then get a train to Køge, to Roskilde, and Odense, across Storebælt...

4- Finally reach our destination at Mad´s, so nice at the sunset!

5- And met a really cool cat, usually and simply called "You"... Before meeting Mad´s at 1a.m.

Hendes Majestæt Dronning Margrethe II

That´s it! Our last day in Sjælland was sunny and we decided to go north to visit the Frederiksborg castle and simply enjoy the sunset while coming back walking trough nice neighbourhood. We finally cooked a French recipe for Michael: "Pâté de pommes de terre" and "salade-vinaigrette". Tomorrow morning, we´ll rent our bikes in København and as the weather isn´t good at all for the next two days, we´ll go to Odense directly at Mad´s flat!

1- Arriving in Hillerød where we bought Danish recipes books and Comics from an old-fashion store...

2- Visiting the Frederiksborg, a huge made-of-bricks castle with an old copper roof:

3- Chillin´afternoon in the Castle park, nap and yes, it DID happen, we get sunburns in Denmark!

5- Walking back, eating cherries, raspberries and fresh nuts...

6- Søllerød, the Danish "Beverly Hills". We should definitely move there and buy a castle! Actually the roof are shinny black because of glazed stones, an aesthetic way to protect them from rain. And the SøllerødKro is the most expensive restaurant in Denmark, but it was closed ´til July 28th and only serves... french dishes!
